Thanks to a scholarship, through my interdisciplinary master studies at the University of Gothenburg, I was able to be stationed at the Uffizi Galleries in Florence, Italy during autumn 2023. At the Department of Education and the Department of Cultural Mediation and Accessibility, I was able to attend a detailed programme in the context of a newly launched research project. Combining educational activities and presentations led by the department, I had the privilege of visiting all the museums to study the art collections in more detail. This period included writing a report on what the museum complex of the Uffizi galleries consists of today, but also the design of olfactory tools for the educational activities of the institution. It became at the same time a study of pedagogical methods used within the institution, combined with a concrete experience of designing multisensory tools for educational purposes. A first test of using these instruments was done in October-23 within the museum Galleria d’Arte Moderna, Palazzo Pitti, which is part of the Uffizi Galleries. Thank you for an instructive and creative time! It has been an honor to be involved in this project.
